LA QUINTA, Calif.- - A woman has been arrested for attempting to shoplift two shopping carts worth of stolen goods from the La Quinta Kohl's.
On Thursday, Riverside County Sheriff's deputies assigned to the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team responded to the Kohl's located at 78950 Highway 111 in La Quinta to assist with a shoplifting arrest.
According to the Sheriff's Department post, Patricia Elrod , 79, had "unloaded a full shopping cart of items into her vehicle, then went back into the store. After loaded her shopping cart back up, she left the store again with no intention to pay for any of the items from both trips."
She was arrested at 8:14 p.m. and booked into Indio Jail at 9:19 p.m. on $2,500 bail. She was released Friday.
Elrod reportedly has multiple theft warrants in LA County.
She is set to appear in court at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on January 31. She faces one misdemeanor charge of shoplifting (value more than $950).
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department's La Quinta Special Enforcement Team implementation of the Holiday Theft Program aims to cut down of thefts during the season with the help of extra patrols for local businesses.
