COACHELLA, Calif.- - A suspected gang member wanted for a string of Coachella robberies remained behind bars Wednesday afternoon, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
On Tuesday at 10 a.m., a search warrant was served by members of the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force and Riverside County Sheriff's Department's SWAT team at a residence on the 51000 block of Calle Avila in Coachella.
Task force members identified documented gang member Brian Jamand, 23, of Coachella as a suspect in several robberies in Coachella between August and October. He was taken into custody at the residence at 11:59 a.m., according to county jail records.
A 17-year-old suspect was also taken into custody and booked into Indio Juvenile Hall.
During the warrant execution, deputies also seized a loaded 9mm handgun and heroin from the residence.
Jamand faces multiple armed robbery counts and is being held on $50,000 bail. The juvenile faces a charge of possession of narcotics with a loaded firearm.

Jamand is set to appear in court at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on Friday.
