Police arrest Desert Hot Springs homicide suspect

69-year-old victim died from stab wounds

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. - Police have arrested a suspect in relation to yesterday's homicide in Desert Hot Springs.

27-year-old Albert Marchain of Desert Hot Springs was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Cathedral City by officers with the Desert Hot Springs Police Department along with assistance from the Cathedral City Police Department, according to DHSPD.

According to DHSPD, Marchain was a suspect in the stabbing death of an unidentified 69-year-old man whose body was found Monday afternoon in the back of an apartment building on the 66900 Block of Hacienda Avenue.

"Once we got here and saw the condition of the body, it was obvious we were looking at a homicide at that time," DHS Deputy Chief Jim Henson told KESQ & CBS Local 2 Monday.

Officers said the victim, whose identity will not be revealed until relatives have been notified, succumbed to multiple stab wounds.

Marchain has been booked into Banning jail for murder. According to inmate records, he is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
