CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - The 2nd annual Lesley Zerebny memorial softball game will be held this Sunday at Big League Dreams in Cathedral City.
On October 8, 2016, Zerebny and veteran officer Jose "Gil" Vega were shot and killed while responding to a domestic dispute at a home in a normally quiet Palm Springs neighborhood.
The Palm Springs Police Officers' Association and the Palm Springs Fire Department will hold the softball game in her honor. Zerebny played in the game before she was killed in the line of duty two years ago.
"In some way, it gives us something else to focus on. It's always been a fun event. it's an event that Lesley played in and she enjoyed so it brings us some joy to be out there and do something that isn't focused on their deaths but at the same time it will also carry them on," said PSPD Detective Chris Jaeger.
First pitch will be at 6 pm. Tickets are five dollars and are available at the front gate. at the records counter at the PSPD headquarters, or at the PSFD headquarters by the airport. All proceeds will go to the Palm Springs police and fire memorial funds.
