A SoCal native, Katie Widner is excited to be back in the southland after spending two years as a week-night evening anchor at KFBB in Great Falls, MT.
Katie has wanted to "do the news" for as long as she can remember. As a child, she would dress up in her sister's prom dresses to watch the Oscars and mimick the red carpet correspondents. In high school, she anchored the televised morning announcements. Katie graduated from California State University, Fullerton in 2011, where she was a member of the honor society and the president of the campus journalism society. Katie's passion for journalism have taken her around the world- she spent a Summer studying communications in Florence, Italy, and was also a student-correspondent in Vietnam. After graduating, Katie interned at Entertainment Tonight in Los Angeles.
Growing up in Orange County, Katie spent many weekends and holidays with her family in the Coachella Valley. Some of her fondest memories include ice skating inside the Westfield Shopping Center, taking the tram up the mountain in shorts to see the snow, and enjoying a long, hot day at (what was then) the Oasis Water Park. In her free time, enjoys sporting events (Go Anaheim Ducks!), watching movies and spending time with her family.
Katie joined the KESQ/CBS Local 2 news team in August of 2016. You can watch her anchor the evening, weekend newscasts on CBS Local 2 and can find her around town reporting during the week. If you have a compelling story you'd like to share with her, or would just like to say hello,. shoot her an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
