Idyllwild fire department response to Mountain Fire was delayed

It's been nearly 8 months since the mountain fire tore through the San Jacinto mountains just west of us.   the fire destroyed buildings and homes and threatened the town of Idyllwild. The US Forest Service estimates it cost more than 25 million dollars to fully contain the fire. But, in the aftermath of the mountain fire, one fire department is questioning its dispatch to the scene. Public records show the Idyllwild Fire Department, the closest engine to the origin of the fire was not called until 17 minutes after others were sent in from further away.
