The Colorado Rockies learned Wednesday that shortstop Troy Tulowitzki's season is over and left fielder Carlos Gonzalez's return is questionable.
Rockies trainer Keith Dugger said after Colorado's 5-3 loss to the San Diego Padres that that Tulowitzki will have surgery Friday in Vail, Colo., to repair the labrum in his left hip. Tulowitzki has been out since July 19 when he was injured while running out a ground ball in Pittsburgh.
Tulowitzki's .340 batting average still leads the major leagues.
Dugger also said the left knee injury that forced Gonzalez onto the disabled list Sunday looks more extensive than originally believed. Gonzalez will be re-examined Thursday and might not return this season.
