The senior captain helped lead the Aztecs girls' tennis team to another league title in 2017. Collins and her teammates will now try for a CIF championship.

In the world of high school sports, being a senior captain is a huge responsibility.
"It is a big role to fill as captain, I just don't give it away freely."
To be a senior captain on a program that has won 30-league titles since 1987 is a different ball game.
"It has been fairly competitive this year with the girls. We all wanted that leading spot."
Some high school athletes like Saige Collins rise to the occasion.
"I challenged her during the season to lead the girls as a team and bring out that leadership for her senior year. She blew me away."
"As a team captain this year it's been really motivating to see everyone work so much harder as the season goes on and get better and better. Improving their tennis game."
She has gotten better all season long. Figures out what needs working on, sets the goal, and accepts nothing less.
"At the beginning of the year I felt I was lacking confidence. So far I have accomplished all my goals throughout the season, and one of my goals at the beginning of the year was to go third round in CIF individual and I am glad I was able to complete that."
Although the season is coming to an end, her smile.
"She is beautiful, she has that presence that she is just a super star."
And her enthusiasm.
"Try to get my girls pumped up all the time. Before matches, after, if you take a loss it is important to stay head strong."
It will carry on with the younger Aztecs.
