The Rancho Mirage girls tennis team captured the CIF-SS Division 5 championship last season and are ready for another run in Division 4 this year.
Head coach Owen McIntosh understands the challenge ahead but expects his team to compete.
"We certainly have the potential," he said.
"We are up a division and will eventually run into some teams that are tougher than last year. But having said that, we're tougher than we were last year so we certainly have a shot and we've been planning all season for what we call a second season and now we're in it, so we're looking forward to it."
Rancho Mirage finished the De Anza League season a perfect 12-0 to win their 4th straight league championship. The Rattlers will move to a new league next season.
