The Paterno family released a statement through lawyer Wick Sollers on Monday criticizing the recent leaks of information regarding former Penn State coach Joe Paterno, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reported.
The statement also called on the attorney general's office to release all relevant information in the case involving former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
The statement said the leaked information was intended to "smear former Penn State officials, including Joe Paterno."
On Friday, CNN released emails from former president Graham Spanier, former vice president of finance Gary Schultz and former athletic director Tim Curley.
The emails suggested Curley decided not to report alleged sexual abuse activity by Sandusky after having a conversation with Paterno.
