Jamie Moyer, who became the oldest pitcher to earn a major league victory earlier this season, was granted his release by the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday.
Moyer, 49, was released by the Colorado Rockies earlier this season after going 2-5 with a 5.70 ERA. He signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles last month.
The left-hander asked for his release after compiling a 1.69 ERA in three starts at Class AAA Norfolk. The Orioles were not ready to call him up to the majors.
He has a career record of 269-209 with a 4.25 ERA.
