RF Giancarlo Stanton underwent successful arthroscopic surgery Sunday to remove loose bodies -- bone or cartilage fragments -- from his right knee. He is expected to be out four-to-six weeks.

OF Justin Ruggiano is expected to see most of the action in right field in Stanton's absence.

"It hurts," team president David Samson said of losing Stanton, who was injured two days before the Marlins acquired slugger Carlos Lee in a trade from Houston. "Stanton is such an imposing force in the lineup. Lee was brought in to combine him with Stanton in the lineup. Now it's sort of back to where you were."
