Free agent outfielder Jorge Soler reportedly is expected to agree to a four-year contract by Monday.
The Cuban defector has drawn heavy interest from the New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs, according the New York Post, which cited an industry source.
The 20-year-old is a power hitter who been compared to fellow Cuban defector Yoenis Cespedes, 26, who signed with the Athletics during the offseason. Cespedes is hitting .275 with six homers and 26 RBIs this season.
Soler gained notoriety during the 2010 World Junior Championship when he hit .304 for Cuba with a .500 on-base percentage. He defected in 2011.
ESPN reported Soler could sign for between $25-30 million.
