YUCCA VALLEY, Calif. - - A Yucca Valley man has been arrested following an alleged break-in on the 5800 block of Delano Trail in Yucca Valley. The man, 34-year-old Kenneth Ryburn, was apprehended following an extended chase and has been booked into the Morongo Jail on Burglary charges. He is currently on felony probation for a Felony Vandalism conviction and is being held without bail.
On Feb. 1st at 6:39 a.m., a call went in to the Morongo Basin Station relating to an unknown problem on Delano Trail. When police arrived on the scene, it was reported that the caller was home alone when someone broke into her home. She locked herself in the bathroom. Another resident of the home arrived home shortly after the call and found the garage door open and a facet running outside.
The second resident saw Ryburn in an adjacent backyard and contacted him. Ryburn then fled the scene, running northbound into the desert. A male matching Ryburn 's description was seen breaking into a vehicle shortly after this, then was seen jumping into other backyards.
A different area homeowner contacted police after witnessing Ryburn fleeing through backyards and pointed his shotgun at him. Ryburn fled the scene again and was detained by deputies shortly thereafter on the 7300 block of Avalon Avenue.
Using Ryburn's shoe impressions, investigators were also able to place the suspect at the scene of several other felonies committed earlier in the evening including Vehicle Burglary, Felony Vandalism, and Grand Theft Auto.
Anyone with additional information relating to this case is urged to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department at their Morongo Basin Station. The station phone number is (760) -366-4175.
