THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. -

There has been a change to the upcoming debate between Incumbent Congressman Raul Ruiz and his challenger, Assemblyman Brian Nestande.

The debate was originally scheduled for Friday, October 3, but Gulf California Broadcast Company and The Desert Sun have agreed to move the debate to Sunday, October 5 at 6 p.m. at the request of both campaigns.

This is in observance of Yom Kippur which begins Friday, October 3.

Ruiz is a first term Democrat. Nestande is a Republican looking to unseat Ruiz in what's expected to be one of November's biggest races.

The debate will be part of our effort to help you know everything about the two candidates, and the issues, before you vote.

Once again, the debate is now set for Sunday, October 5 at 6 p.m. We will broadcast it live on News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2. It will also stream live on kesq.com and cbslocal2.com.
