Woman in deadly Desert Hot Springs wreck identified
Woman killed, two children injured when vehicle flipped along Palm Drive Wednesday afternoon
A motorist died in a rollover crash in Desert Hot Springs Wednesday afternoon, and her 2-year-old and 18-month old children were both thrown from the SUV, a Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman said.
Eleuteria Leon Leon, 24, of Desert Hot Springs died Wednesday when the sports utility vehicle she was driving lost control and rolled.
The Riverside County Coroner's office said Leon Leon was wearing a seat belt.
The crash was reported at Palm Drive south of Dillon Road about 3:30 p.m., Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.
Another motorist at the crash scene said the children were buckled and were not thrown from the vehicle, but rescued from inside it.
A 2-year-old and an 18-month-old thrown from the SUV were taken to a hospital with what Hendrickson called moderate injuries. It was unclear if they were in safety seats.
Leon Leon was declared dead at the scene.
