THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. -

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the Coachella Valley, Riverside County Mountains and San Bernardino County mountains. It goes into effect Thursday at 11 am and expires at 2 am Friday. A trough of low pressure moving inland across California will bring strong and gusty westerly winds beginning Thursday evening. Sustained winds 20 to 30 mph are expected, with gusts up to 60 mph possible. Blowing sand and limited visibility in some areas is likely.

  BELTWAY. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST COULD ABRUPTLY LOWER VISIBILITY.
  LOOSE OBJECTS OUTSIDE COULD BE BLOWN AWAY. CHOPPY CONDITIONS ON
  AREA LAKES WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS FOR BOATERS ESPECIALLY
  AWAY FROM PROTECTED COVES.
