Imagine going to sleep with little blood suckers. That's what happened to one valley family after they say they bought bunk beds infested by bed bugs. They bought them for their children at Aaron's in Cathedral City.
They say something about the purchase didn't seem right, but it took months of itching and scratching to figure out what.
Carmen Tamez and Edgar Villages never expected bed bugs would be sleeping with their children at night.
"It's unexplainable, it's horrible," said Tamez. "This is the worst feeling ever in my 30 years of life. I cant live the same... I'm living in fear I can't sleep at night I feel them crawling all over me."
The couple purchased the bunk bed in March, and say they discovered it was infested with bed bugs several months later. During that time, the entire family suffered from rashes and discomfort.
"I didn't know what it was until one night I was placing them in bed and I saw an actual bug crawling underneath the blanket," said Villages.
Immediately, he called pest control who came out to their home and established the bugs had been living in the furniture for months. Next, he called Aaron's.
"I said you guys unfortunately sold us a bed with bed bugs," said Villages.
Villages says that while on the call a representative from Aaron's told him the bed had a previous complaint claiming it was infested with bed bugs. Villages tells us this statement was later denied and the company did not offer him a refund of any sort.
We contacted Aaron's who told us they would be reaching out to Villages and Tamez. They said all customer concerns are taken seriously, including any reports of bed bugs. They also pointed out that it is difficult to track the origin of bed bugs.
