COACHELLA, Calif. - According to a news release, on Saturday at 2:52 a.m., officers from the Coachella Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing occurring in the 52300 block of Las Palmas Street in Coachella.
The victims included a 30 -year old male of Thermal and a 28-year old female of Coachella. The victims reported they were in the area looking for a stolen bicycle when they were confronted by the suspect. The male victim and suspect began to argue and became involved in a physical altercation. The female victim was attempting to break up the fight when the suspect produced a knife and stabbed both victims. The victims fled the location in their vehicle being driven by a friend.
The female victim was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and released. The male victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was admitted for his injuries. The suspect was located at a residence where the incident occurred. He was arrested and booked into the county jail in Indio after being examined at a local hospital. He was booked for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. His identity has not been released.
