Two dogs stolen during armed robbery at La Quinta park

LA QUINTA, Calif. - La Quinta Police are searching for a man and a woman suspected of stealing two dogs during an armed robbery at a park. 

It happened Thursday shortly before 9 p.m. at the La Quinta Park on Adams Street and Blackhawk Way. 

The victim, a 60-year old female from Phelan, told police she went to the park to sell two dogs to an unknown female.

When the suspects arrived, the male suspect pulled out a firearm and demanded the dogs.

The man and woman each grabbed a dog and ran off.

The victim started to chase the male suspect, who threatened her if she continued to follow.

The suspects drove away in separate cars toward the area of Blackhawk Way and Dune Palms Road.

The man's car was described as being a black and burgundy Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima.

The victim was not injured in this incident.

The male suspect was described as:

  • Hispanic in his early 20s
  • Around 6-feet-tall with a thin build
  • Wearing dark shorts, long blue & red jersey with a hood, bandana over his face

The female suspect was described as:

  • Hispanic in her early 20s
  • Heavy build
  • Bleach blonde shoulder-length hair
  • Wearing a purple shirt
