PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Trio Restaurant in Palm Springs will open next week according to owner Tony Marchese. This marks nearly two months after a fire caused significant water and smoke damage at the popular eatery forcing it to close.
"We're going to re-open probably Monday or Tuesday...but we'll keep you posted," he said.
On Wednesday, restaurant staff were helping bring in chairs and tables back inside. For Marchese, this development was a huge relief.
"I feel better today than any other day in the last sixty days," he said. "It looks like a restaurant now. It looked like a war zone for many weeks."
The staff was in an enthusiastic mood as they worked through the morning, with one employee wearing a costume head of Ted. Marchese said nearly all of his staff had come back and he was grateful to them sticking with the restaurant over the past two months.
"They've all been patient and waiting and they're all coming back so it's nice," he said.
New tiles were placed on the floor and lights were installed helping restore what was a drab hollow interior of the restaurant after the fire to its usual orange hue that the eatery was known for. Marchese said customers would notice a familiar setting with some new updates.
"All new paint, wallpaper, new tile," he said. "The carpet looks the same. It's brand new, and some really amazing new fixtures and probably some new art."
Marchese said before the restaurant reopened he would hold a staff only event there to show appreciation for their patience.
