INDIO, Calif. - In response to the Las Vegas shooting, Riverside University Health System Behavioral Health is holding regional community debriefings at three locations for residents of Riverside County directly affected by Sunday's tragedy Wednesday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
One of those three locations is here in the valley at Indio Mental Health Adult Services located at 47825 Oasis St.
The debriefings are special meetings conducted by clinical therapists who provide special intervention and resources to those impacted by the violence. Only those who attended the Las Vegas concert and those who know someone injured or killed were admitted. Those who need support resources may also call the Riverside County CARES Line: (800) 706-7500.
"These debriefings provide a special opportunity to share experiences, learn coping skills and access resources for additional support that might be needed down the road," said Steve Steinberg, director of RUHS Behavioral Health.
The sessions in Indio will be split into two separate groups, one for people who were in Las Vegas at the time. The other session is for any family or friends of those injured or killed during the shooting.
"We’ve recognized that giving people the opportunity to work through their thoughts and experiences, and emotions and reactions in a controlled manner can help process what they’ve gone through," said Jim Grash, Desert Regional Administration of Riverside
The other two locations include the Rustin Conference Center, located at 2085 Rustin Ave. Entrance 1 in Riverside, and Lake Elsinore Behavioral Health, located at 31764 Casino Dr., Ste. 300 in Lake Elsinore.
