PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -

The Palm Springs Police Department is looking for a man who stole an elderly couple's car after entering their home with a knife Tuesday night.

The robbery was reported around 9 p.m. at a home in the 2200 block of Sunshine Way, according to a release from the P.S.P.D. The victims, who are both about 80 years old, left their garage door open while they were inside. 

The suspect entered their home through the garage and held a knife to the couple, demanding money and the keys to their car. Officers said the man stole property from the home and took off in the vehicle.

He's described as a white man, about 25-30 years old, 5'7"-5'10" tall and is estimated to weigh 170-190 lbs. He was wearing a white shirt at the time of the robbery.

There was no additional information regarding the suspect's description.

The stolen vehicle is a green 2003 Acura TL with California license plate no. 6JHA109. The car had a blue rectangular-shaped decal on the rear driver side bumper with '2012' in white text.
