INDIO, Calif. -

A SunLine bus driver was attacked last weekend while on her route in Indio, according to police.

The attack happened just before 11:30 a.m. Saturday on Highway 111 near Granada Dr when the bus was making a stop to pick up passengers. Apparently, one passenger asked if he could ride for free, but the bus driver refused.

The man, identified as 32-year-old Joshua Wilson, punched the driver in the face and exited the bus. He was later arrested for the attack.

A spokesman for SunLine says the driver is doing fine. She was taken to the hospital and later released.
