THERMAL, Calif. -

The driver of a stolen Ford minivan got away from police in Coachella Sunday morning.

She was described as a female adult in her 30's who ran away on foot.

Detectives said the suspect hit a parked truck while driving on three wheels with sparks flying at 5:13 a.m. Sunday morning in the area of Avenue 52 and Sunset.

Police had been called there because of reports of a DUI driver.

Officers said they tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the Ford's driver refused to stop, hitting several other parked cars.

The minivan eventually got stuck after colliding with a parked car in a driveway on the 51700 block of Genoa Street.

The woman at the wheel jumped out and ran off.

A search of the area came up empty.

The vehicle was determined to be stolen from Cathedral City.
