Police investigate Rescue Mission stabbing attack

The stabbing occurred shortly at 12:30 p.m.

INDIO, Calif. - An stabbing has been reported on the street outside of the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission's Joe E. Smillow Annex at the intersection of Manila Ave. and Van Buren St. in Indio, according to Tom Cox, the program director at the center. The victim went inside the center to seek help, and staff called police and emergency services.

The suspect wanted for the assault has not been apprehended. 

The stabbing happened shortly after 12:30 p.m.

The investigation has been taken over by the Riverside County Sheriff's department.
