PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - The Palm Springs Public Library was packed Sunday for a special city council candidate forum. The event was put on by Organized Neighborhoods of Palm Springs in partnership with Friends of the Palm Springs Public Library.
It featured a meet-and-greet with six candidates running for the two open seats on the council and was followed by a moderated question-and-answer forum. KESQ News Channel 3's and CBS Local 2's Katie Widner spoke with some residents during the event about what topics they are most concerned about.
"The homelessness issue is one. I think the budget issue is another," said resident John Westaway.
Ginny Foat and Chris Mills announced in July during a Palm Springs City Council meeting that they would not seek re-election after serving for more than a decade as city council members.
"How do we continue to grow and move forward, but still maintain the charm of what Palm Springs is all about?" pondered Lisa Schwartz.
The election will be Nov. 7. Be sure to join us on-air during the week of Oct. 9 as CBS Local 2 and KESQ News Channel 3 will have one-on-one interviews with all candidates.
