Southern California Edison worker dies after accident
A Southern California Edison worker died and three other workers sustained minor injuries today in an industrial accident involving underground equipment in Menifee, authorities said.
The identity of the fatally injured employee -- declared dead at the scene of the 7:47 a.m. accident -- was unavailable, as were the names of the injured workers, according to Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson.
SCE official Lauren Bartlett said the accident at Murrieta and Ridgemoor roads in Menifee was not related to the copper theft at a nearby SCE facility yesterday afternoon that triggered a power outage.
That was "unrelated to today's tragic accident but near the same location," Bartlett said.
The cause of the accident was under investigation.
