KESQ/CBS Local 2 confirmed late Saturday night that 7 aircraft were escorted from restricted airspace over Sunnylands on Saturday.
A Spokesperson for NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, confirmed that F-16's were dispatched after the pilots of seven aircraft were not aware of the no fly zone above the compound that President Barack Obama was staying at.
The planes were escorted out of the area says the spokesperson. No word on if any of the pilots will face criminal charges. NORAD says they are only responsible for escorting the planes out of the area, and local law enforcement is in charge of following up.
The President is staying in the Coachella Valley through Monday.
