INDIO, Calif. -

Crews have finished repairing a sinkhole in Indio that opened up Friday afternoon.  

A water main break caused the sinkhole to open on Monroe St. between Crown Way and Valencia Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Drivers first noticed a small hole in the northbound lane and called police. 

Officers were able to shut down Monroe before it collapsed even more.

At its peak, the sinkhole was about six feet wide  and five feet deep. About 15 feet of roadway was compromised.

Crews were able to fix the leak after about an hour , one lane remained closed overnight.

Repair crews started first thing Saturday morning and were able to fix it by Saturday afternoon.
