INDIO, Calif. -

A missing 14-year-old Indio middle school student being sought by police today is believed to be with a 24-year-old man.

Guadalupe Garcia is thought to have gone willingly with Ivan Moreno Cancino, said Indio police.

The teen was last seen Friday morning when she was dropped off near Jefferson Middle School at 83089 Highway 111, police said.

When a family member went to pick her up at the school Friday afternoon, she was not there, according to police.

Records show she did not attend school on Friday. Cancino may be driving a tan two-door 1995 Mercury Cougar with the California license plate number #MJU058.

Cancino, who stands 5 feet tall and has a thin build and brown eyes, was last seen last Thursday by coworkers, according to Indio police Cmdr. Hank Peeters. He said at the time that he might be heading to Mexico, Peeters said.

Garcia is Hispanic, 5 feet 1 inch tall, 129 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on the missing girl should call (760) 391-4057. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Coachella Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-STOP.
