CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - It’s been a week since a Coachella Valley couple went missing without a trace.
Now the mother of Jonathan Reynoso, 28, is speaking out and continuing to ask for the public's help to find her missing son and his girlfriend, Audrey Moran, 26, of Coachella.
Reynoso is a Cathedral City High School graduate and his family said he's also known as Jon Darling, and they hope that name will help more people recognize him.
Investigators and family members are still working with few clues to find the missing couple, but Reynoso's mother, Mayra Torres, is hoping that her Facebook posts will help shed light on the disappearance of the couple.
The last time either Reynoso or Moran's cellphone was used was last Wednesday. Moran’s SUV was found in Beaumont in working condition with fuel in the tank. Reynoso’s mother says he doesn’t own a car.
For the past week, the families of these two have been searching independent of each other, looking far and wide.
"They have done tons of footwork. They have been by the boarder area. They have gone to Murrieta. They have done a great job," Torres said about Moran's family search effort.
Torres has started posting letters to both Jonathan and Audrey on her Facebook, as well as posting some videos so people will also know the sound of Jonathan’s voice. Many of these posts are going viral and are being shared hundreds of times.
"It has shown and grown everywhere. People have been spreading it. It has been crazy the amount of support that people we don’t even know that people have done to come out and spread this. It is key to use social media and it’s working," Torres said.
Torres hopes this mountain of digital exposure can lead to credible tips.
"Somewhere out there, someone could come out and say that they think they saw him or someone could get touched with some kind of compassion and say that they think it’s time to come forward," Torres said.
Reynoso’s family and friends will be heading up Highway 74 Wednesday to hand out flyers and go door to door and continue their search.
We reached out to Moran’s family, but they never returned our calls. The Indio Police Department has no updates at this time. Investigators do not suspect foul play.
