Palm Springs pedestrian dies after collision with car

Authorities have yet to release identity

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - A Palm Springs man died late Monday night after he was struck by a vehicle along South Sunrise Way and East Ramon Road in Palm Springs.

Authorities say the collision happened at 4:26 p.m. The 76-year-old died at 8:06 p.m. Monday evening, just hours after the man tried to walk eastbound across Sunrise Way near the north crosswalk.

The pedestrian's name had not yet been released pending notification of family members.

A motorist was driving eastbound on Ramon Road and making a northbound turn onto Sunrise Way when the collision occurred.

Authorities say the injured man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
