LA QUINTA, Calif. -

Junior golfers will once again have an opportunity to receive top-notch golf instructions at the PowerBilt Junior Golf Clinic, in partnership with The First Tee of the Coachella Valley, on Sunday, Jan. 19 at the PGA WEST driving range.

The free junior clinic takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will give junior golfers, ages 6 and up, the opportunity to learn a wide range of skills and techniques such as driving, bunker play, chipping and putting.

Organizers said participants will also receive a goodie bag, prizes and free admission to the final round of the Humana Challenge.

The clinic is a commitment to junior golf by the HB Foundation and PowerBilt Golf. Through its foundation, PowerBilt coordinates with local junior golf associations to promote the game to the next generation of golfers.

"We're thrilled to participate once again in the Humana Challenge Junior Clinic," said Ross Kvinge, president of PowerBilt Golf.  "No other tournament brings more attention to fitness and health than the Humana Challenge. And that jibes with what we're doing at PowerBilt. We want to introduce golf to as many kids as possible and teach them that it's not only a game for life, but it can play a role in good health and fitness.  We've launched a program this year called 'PowerGolf' which encourages strength and conditioning for players of all ages. So we see where our efforts go hand-in-hand with Humana's efforts."

Junior golfers can pick up and submit an application at Lumpy's golf shop in La Quinta on Washington St. or in Rancho Mirage on Dinah Shore Drive. Space is limited and registration must be completed by Jan. 13.

The 2014 Humana Challenge, the Coachella Valley's annual PGA TOUR event from Jan. 13-19, is a 72-hole event and features 156 professionals playing at the Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus Private Courses at PGA WEST and La Quinta Country Club.

The first three rounds of the four-day tournament will be played in a pro-am format. The tournament continues to honor and celebrate the legacy of Bob Hope, and will award the Bob Hope Memorial Trophy to its winner.
