Same-sex marriage by state

A St. Louis circuit judge ruled on Wednesday that Missouri's ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. The decision comes a day after a federal judge ruled that neighboring Kansas also was violating the U.S. Constitution by refusing to allow same-sex marriages. Here's a look at the path same-sex marriage has taken across the country.

Delaware was the 11th state in the nation to legalize same-sex marriage after the state Senate approved the measure and the state's governor signed it into law on May 6, 2013. It went into effect in July 2013.
