Obama to return to campaign trail in Calif.

President Barack Obama will return to the campaign trail on Monday, the White House said Saturday, with events in the Western part of the US, including the state which has contributed more than any other to his reelection bid, California.

Both he and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney canceled their Friday campaign events after a mass shooting at a Colorado movie theater that day killed at least 12 people and wounded 58 others.

On Monday, Obama will speak at the annual Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Reno, Nevada, and hold campaign events in Oakland, the White House said.

His Tuesday schedule includes campaign events in Portland, Oregon.

On Wednesday, the president will campaign in New Orleans and speak at the National Urban League conference.

Obama is next on the campaign trail Friday with events in Washington, D.C. and Virginia.

Nevada, with six electoral votes, is a toss up on the CNN Electoral Map, while California (55 electoral votes) and Oregon (7 electoral votes) are considered to be safe states for Obama to win in November.

Obama has hauled more than $33.6 million out of California this cycle, according to Federal Election Commission numbers, just over 10% of his total fund-raising for the 2012 campaign.
