Secret Service code names through history

Since the Secret Service now scrambles its radio communications, there’s no longer much of a security reason for giving presidents and candidates code names, but they are still used out of tradition. Here are some of the not-so-secret code names White House seekers and those close to them have received over the years.

Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee in 2008, was “Denali,” the name of the tallest mountain in North America, which is located in Alaska. Her husband, Todd, was “Driller.”
