Suspicious package at Palm Springs International Airport

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Palm Springs Police have determined that a suspicious package found in front of the USO at the Palm Springs International Airport was an irrigation water timer in a plastic container with wires that left by a worker.

Authorities responded to earlier reports of a possible bomb threat at the Palm Springs International Airport.


Northbound El Cielo Road from Tahquitz Canyon Way was shut down during the investigation, which wrapped up before 1 p.m.

No evacuations were ordered and all flights are going as scheduled according to Palm Springs International Airport Operations Manager, Tom Nolan.

The Riverside County Hazardous Device Team assisted with identifying the device.
