Police have arrested the father of a four-year-old girl found in a Cathedral City neighborhood.
Cathedral City Police issued a release early Monday morning saying the child's mother contacted police Sunday evening providing the child's identity.Detectives then learned the girl's father Felix Martinez Diaz had custody of the child at the time she was discovered alone along the 32500 Block of Sky Blue Water Trail Saturday afternoon.
Diaz came to the Cathedral City Police Department Sunday night at 11:00 p.m., was interviewed, then was arrested for Child Endangerment.
Diaz was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
Cathedral City Police tell KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 that the young girl was located in the area of Sky Blue Water Trail around 3:30 Saturday afternoon.
She was described by police as "a medium complexed Hispanic female... with brown hair and brown eyes."

Police alerted the community Saturday night, hoping to have the public's help in finding the child's caretakers.
Over the weekend, police said they had no leads or information on who the girl's family is or how she ended up alone.
On Sunday afternoon, a Watch Commander said they have had no calls with tips on who the girl may be. They continued to search for information. Meanwhile, the toddler remained in the custody of the police department. Later in the day, officials released an image of the child in order to help identify her.
