PALM DESERT, Calif. -

Deputies from The Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team (SET) observed a vehicle leaving the vicinity of water backflow valves in the 42000 block of Washington St. in Palm Desert. A check of the backflow valves revealed one had been cut and stolen. SET deputies followed the suspect vehicle to Country Club Drive and Cook St. at which point a vehicle stop was conducted.

Jesus Noriega, age 24 of Cathedral City, and a female adult were detained. A search of the vehicle revealed the stolen backflow valve, .75 grams of methamphetamine, 13 grams of marijuana and an illegal weapon.  Noriega was arrested and booked at the Riverside County Jail in Indio.

The Palm Desert Police Department is committed to the safety of their citizens and will be vigilant in investigating all crimes of this nature.
