BANNING, Calif. -

The pedestrian who was killed while trying to cross I-10 on Friday night has been identified by the coroner's office.

Jonathan Bresnahan, 25, was hit by at least five cars on the interstate around 6:30 p.m. near Banning.

Bresnahan was hit while crossing the eastbound lanes just west of the San Gorgonia overcrossing, according to CHP.

The drivers of at least 2 of the cars that hit the man stopped at the scene.

Three of 4 lanes of the freeway were shutdown and traffic was backed up for miles with some people reporting two-hour delays.

Bresnahan was from Banning.
