Palm Springs woman elected president of CA Association of Public Cemetaries
Kathleen Jurasky, manager of the Palm Springs Cemetery District, was elected president of the California Association of Public Cemeteries for 2013-2014, the district announced today.
The association promotes the development of public cemetery districts and their governance "through interactive communication, education and legislative advocacy," according to the district.
Jurasky has worked for the district for 16 years, 13 of those as manager. She oversees operations of the district's two cemeteries, Welwood Murray Cemetery in Palm Springs and Desert Memorial Park in Palm Desert.
Jurasky also volunteers as treasurer for the Desert Veterans Memorial Association, which holds Memorial Day and Veterans Day services at Desert Memorial Park, according to the district. The Palm Springs Cemetery District covers Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Rancho Mirage and unincorporated Coachella Valley communities.
