Palm Desert City Council approves cannabis business ordinance

Marijuana businesses allowed within city limits

Watch: Palm Desert City Council approves

PALM DESERT, Calif. - The Palm Desert City Council has approved an ordinance that would regulate the marijuana industry in the city.

Back on September 29, the council decided to send the ordinance back to city staff because it needed a number of changes.

The only change that was made that only one pot shop will be allowed to operate on El Paseo east of Larkspur Ln.

The city is only planning on giving out six permits for cannabis retail shops.

There would be more permits for cultivation in industrial areas.

"The city isn't inventing the wheel there are other cities that they can learn from and this is nothing new it's already out there," said Julie Montante, owner of PSA Organica in Palm Springs.
