Owner of burned Dorner manhunt cabin files claim
The owner of a mountain cabin where Christopher Dorner was cornered and died wants San Bernardino County to pay her $420,000 because it burned to the ground.
The San Bernardino Sun says Candace Martin of Palmdale filed a claim in May that contends tear gas canisters set her cabin near Barton Flats on fire and sheriff's deputies let it burn.
Dorner, a fired Los Angeles policeman out for revenge, shot and killed four people during a February rampage that led to a shootout at the cabin. He then killed himself.
Martin's claim was filed jointly with that of Palmdale resident Eric Funnel, who's seeking $10,000.
County spokesman David Wert says the county is still gathering information from the pair and the claims remain open.
