PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -

Palm Springs Police said they were investigating an early morning alcohol-involved wreck Friday morning along the curve at 300 South Palm Canyon Drive.

Four people suffered non life-threatening injuries, and were taken by ambulances to nearby hospitals after the collision at 2:09 a.m.

Police said a driver in a Nissan rolled his vehicle several times, the car ending up flipped onto its roof.

A Chevrolet pick up truck also slammed into a palm tree breaking the tree in half.

Investigators said both vehicles had been traveling at high rates of speed southbound along South Palm Canyon Drive. 

Police arrested both drivers for Felony Driving Under Influence of Alcohol or Drugs Causing Injury.

The Chevy's driver was identified as Max Contreras Ramirez, 26, of Indio.

The Nissan's driver was identified as Alonso Valencia Jr., 25, of Indio. He's also charged with resisting arrest.

The police and fire activity closed the roads for a couple of hours afterward.

Both South Palm Canyon Drive and East Palm Canyon Drive were reopened to traffic early Friday morning.
