1943: Composer and singer Randy Newman, who's known for songs such as "Short People" and "I Love L.A." as well as providing film scores for movies such as "Toy Story," "Cars" and "Monsters, Inc.," is born in Los Angeles, California. He was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2013.
