1986: Sprinter Oscar Pistorius, who made history in 2012 by becoming the first double leg amputee to participate in the Olympics, is born in Johannesburg, South Africa. Nicknamed "Blade Runner," Pistorius had both of his legs amputated below the knee when he was 11 months old and runs on racing blades. He was charged in the Feb. 14, 2013, fatal shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp and was eventually found guilty of culpable homicide and sentenced to five years in prison in October 2014.
