1951: Filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, best known for directing movies such as "Back to the Future," "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," "Forrest Gump" and "Cast Away," is born in Chicago, Ill. Zemeckis, who won an Oscar for directing "Forrest Gump," is also known for his pioneering performance capture techniques seen in the computer animated films "The Polar Express," "Beowulf" and "A Christmas Carol."
