1952: Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Lynn Swann, a four-time Super Bowl champion in his nine-season career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, is born in Alcoa, Tennessee. Swann, who played collegiately at the University of Southern California and is also an inductee of the College Football Hall of Fame, was also a three-time Pro Bowl selection and won MVP honors in Super Bowl X in 1976. He also was a football and sports broadcaster for ABC Sports from 1976–2006, but left for an unsuccessful run for Pennsylvania governor.
