2003: Comedian and actor Bob Hope dies at age 100 in Los Angeles. Hope, who starred in more than 70 films and shorts in a career spanning 60 years, was born Leslie Townes Hope in London, England. He is known for his series of "Road" movies co-starring Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour and for his United Service Organizations shows entertaining American military personnel around the world. He also hosted the Academy Awards ceremony 14 times and was known for his love of golf.
